"The Power of Daily Affirmations"
Some mornings I just don’t want to get out of bed. I think about the meetings I have and the deadlines I’ve given myself and I just get overwhelmed. Overwhelmed because I schedule way more than I can possibly do in one day and because I am a perfectionist and I hardly ever say no. Oh, but believe me I am learning the hard way and balance is still left to be obtained. When will I learn my lesson? So, I decided to get back to me, the person I was before I was working 3 jobs and along with being a single parent.
Good Morning Holy Spirt! The first words that come out of my mouth every morning before I get out of bed. Before I check my phone for emails, notifications and missed calls because people will contact you at any time of day, literally. It gives me a sense of peace to recognize the one thing that God left to us as a comforter until He returns. Now whether you believe in God or not, you may do something similar to help you begin your day. I think we can all agree that if your morning starts off well, it seems to set the tone for the day and I don’t mean coffee! Sorry, tea drinker here! (Insert Kermit the frog here)
I notice that in the morning when I don’t say my affirmations and something happens that gets me down or discouraged, it’s harder for me to get my mind back in a positive state because I’m so focused on the situation or circumstance. When I do say my affirmations in the morning or anytime during the day for that matter, I feel uplifted and positive and I usually try to share that positive energy with someone else. I mean who doesn’t want to be happy? Who doesn’t need encouragement from time to time, right?
So one day my best friend whom I prayed for gave me a 5 page prayer of affirmations by Dr. Cindy Trimm along with a folder of positive scriptures to confess daily or when I am in a particular situation. I absolutely love her for it because it has helped to change my thinking and therefore change my attitude on a number of things that I was fairly pessimistic about. You may have heard of Dr. Cindy Trimm, but up until the day my best friend gave me the prayer, I hadn’t. I would like to share some affirmations with you that may change your day around like it has mine. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat of its fruit.” The MSG version reads, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit-you choose. I believe that words are important and hold a lot of power whether we recognize it or not.”
*I will become all that I was born to be (purpose)
*Excellence is the signature upon all I do and say
*God affirms the work that I do and prospers all I set my hands to
*God showers me with unmerited favor
*There is no lack in my house
*My creations, inventions, products, good and services will be in high demand
*God grants me wisdom for successful negotiations
*I will awaken every morning to live the life of my dreams
*I will practice discipline, routine, and focus
*My network and net worth increase daily
I also read from a list taken from the book “The Power of Your Words” by Don Gossett and E. W. Kenyon. In the Bible in Romans 10: 10 it says, “With the mouth confession is made upon salvation.” The AMP version reads, “For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. Here are a few examples from their book that I read a loud and confess.
+I possess the peace of God
+I possess bountiful financial blessings
+I possess peace with my enemies
+I possess wholesome, sound sleep at night
+I possess freedom from fear
+I possess strength for my day
+I possess supernatural help in every situation
So be encouraged and make your own affirmations that you can say aloud daily to improve your day. I can almost guarantee you that you will see a change in your attitude and mood and you’ll look forward to the day no matter what happened yesterday. Also, wear a smile because you never know who needs it.
