"Living Life On Your Own Terms"

Being yourself is the greatest gift you can give to the world. Oftentimes we feel the need to be liked, appreciated and loved by others so we place ourselves in situations that are not conducive to who we truly are. For example, I always felt awkward and left out because I loved reading and writing, and would always have my head in a book and pen and paper with me everywhere I went. It wasn’t until I got divorced a few years ago, that I truly came out my shell and started embracing all my AWESOMENESS. What changed for me was hitting rock bottom and having to rediscover who Listiner really is. And boy, oh boy has this been an amazing journey for me.

But no worries I’m about to give you a few pointers on living life on YOUR TERMS now:

First: start by writing down everything that you like about yourself and also make a list of every activity you love doing or want to do.

Second: pick the top 5 attributes you listed that you liked about yourself and write it on your bathroom and bedroom mirror (it can be on a post-it). The reason you are doing this is to encourage and remind yourself how GREAT you are daily, so even on a not so good day you will still be inspired to be your GREAT self.

Third: take that list of all the things you want to do and love doing and make a valiant effort to work towards doing them all. Some may be as simple as watching the sunrise while drinking coffee (that’s me). Others may take more diligent planning and effort, like travelling the world. But any and everything is possible if you believe it and believe in yourself.

And lastly, but most importantly, NEVER I mean NEVER allow anyone to tell you how to live your life.

So, I encourage everyone, don’t wait until your back is against the wall or some life changing event causes you rethink life as you know it. Take the journey of self discovery now and start thinking what truly makes YOU happy. When we take the focus off of what others think and start thinking of ourselves life becomes a little more interesting.
