Kevin Hart Says he Won’t Play Gay
In a recent interview with Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club,” Kevin Hart confessed that he wouldn’t play a homosexual character in films because of his “insecurities.
"I can't. Not because I have any ill will or disrespect,” he said. “Its because I don't think I'm really going to dive into that role 100 percent because of insecurities about myself trying to play that part. Does that make sense?”
Despite his opposition towards playing gay, Kevin insists that he has nothing but love for gay people.
But right after professing his love to the gay community, Kevin shared a story about how he turned down the token black role in “Tropic Thunder” because the character was too flamboyant and “flagarant” for his taste.
“The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read,” Hard said about the “Tropic Thunder” role. "It was real flagrant. ... I was like, 'I can't do this.' “
The role later went to Brandon T. Jackson.
Well, while we respect you honesty Kevin, it seems a little contradicting that as a performer and comedian who is known to push the envelope in be creative for the sake of art, why you would limit yourself.
Just a thought.
