In a recent interview with Esquire, Will Smith revealed that despite the fact that his children are filthy rich, they “refuse to be slaves to money.”

Will claims that his son, Jaden Smith allegedly only owns one pair of shoes, three pairs of pants, and five shirts so that he can distance himself from his wealth and live solely on what he needs.

"He has refused to be a slave to money,” Will revealed. “I so respect that. The younger generation is less of an ownership generation, anyway."

Will went on to express his fascination with his son’s decision to be frugal given he and his wife Jada’s immense wealth.

“It's so interesting to me that from growing up in that space, he could see the need for things in a way that he's rejecting. He's like, 'I'm not gonna let myself need things in that way,’” he added.

Props to Jaden for not not being superficial and materialistic as some might perceive him to be. But it does seem a little extreme to choose to have only one pair of shoes and such limited clothing. Hopefully he treats himself to something nice soon.
