Jermaine Dupri recently spoke to the Associated Press about the “Blurred Lines” verdict that ordered Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke to pay Marvin Gaye’s family $7.4 million for plagiarizing Gaye’s hit song, “Got to Give it Up.”

Jermaine explained that he was “50/50” on the verdict and understood both sides of the spectrum. He also revealed that he is currently in a similar situation as he feels Ciara’s new single, “I Bet” is a direct copy of Usher’s past hit, “U Got it Bad,” which he co-produced.

"Ciara's new single is a complete rip-off of Usher's 'U Got It Bad,'" he said. "I'm clear on what I made and I'm clear on how music influences people and I'm clear on chord changes and how people move things. ... It might not be as evident as the 'Blurred Lines' situation, but I believe the same thing happened to me.”

Jermaine then went on to say that he plans to contact Ciara and her producers to request that he and Usher get proper credit for her song.

So far, Ciara has yet to publicly respond to Jermaine’s claims.
