On Friday, April 24, ABC aired Bruce Jenner’s exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer announcing his decision to transition from male to female.

"I'm me. I'm a person. This is who I am. I'm not stuck in anybody's body. My brain is much more female than male," Jenner told Sawyer. "For all intents and purposes, I am a woman.”

Jenner revealed that all throughout his life, he repeatedly fought his urges to come out as a woman. As he grew older, his desire to be a woman also grew and he finally made the decision to tell his biological children and stepchildren.

Bruce revealed that his children Brody Jenner, Burt Jenner, Brandon Jenner, and Casey Jenner were more accepting of his decision than his “Keeping up With the Kardashians” family.

Bruce named Khloe as the child who took the news the hardest and Kim as the child who has been most supportive of him after getting some encouragement from Kanye West.

“Kim told me a story. She goes, ‘You know what really turned me around on thinking about this?’ I said, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘Kanye.’ I went, ‘Oh, okay,’” Bruce said. “He says to Kim, ‘Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself, they don’t mean anything.’”

He added, “Since then, Kimberly has been, by far, the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to about it.”

After Bruce’s candid interview, an outpour of celebrities flocked to Twitter and Instagram to show support for the Olympian athlete.

Among the many celebrities included Laverne Cox, Ellen DeGeneres, Ariana Grande, Russell Simmons, Jimmy Fallon, and Lena Dunham.

Bruce’s biological children and stepchildren also showed support on Twitter and Instagram and described their father as a hero.

Now that he has shared his story, Jenner will continue to document his transition on a new E! docu-series. Jenner's E! documentary will be an eight part series that will premiere on July 26 at 9 p.m. EST.
