Harlem native Loni Tate is suing popular Harlem tattoo shop Black Ink for giving her an infected tattoo.

The employees of Black Ink currently star in a top rated VH1 reality show “Black Ink Crew.” Tate claims that one of the tattoo artists at this shop used dirty equipment while tattooing her. Tate says that when she entered the tattoo room she was surprised to see a tattoo gun already open and not opened in  front of her.

A few days after getting the tattoo, Tate says that she felt excruciating pain in the area where she was tatted and it quickly became swollen and irritated. Tate was hospitalized and now she is suing Black Ink for unspecified damages.

“People need to understand that a tattoo procedure is the equivalent of undergoing minor surgery,” Tate’s lawyer, Mark Shirian told reporters.

“More stringent regulations must be adopted immediately in order to protect the health and well-being of New Yorkers.”

So far, no members of Black Ink has come forward to discuss the pending lawsuit.

Just a few weeks prior to this lawsuit, another women sued the members Black Ink for infecting her breast after she got tatted at their shop.
