It’s official guys.

Raven Symone has been hired to be a permanent co-host on ‘The View.’

She’s been frequently guest co-hosting on the show since March, but now ABC producers have decided to hire her full-time.

On Wednesday, June 10, during a live taping of the show, veteran co-host Whoopi Goldberg announced the news of  Raven’s permanent position to the audience and the announcement was followed by confetti bursting in the studio and applause from the crowd.

Following the announcement, Raven walked onstage and brought gifts for each of the co-hosts including guest co-host Iliza Shlesinger.

"I am so happy. I remember coming on The View when I was 15 years old for the first Cheetah Girls," Raven said on the show. "I'm very happy to be sitting with these smart, talented mentors.”

Raven later released a statement saying that she is thrilled to be joining the show and that the hosts on “The View” have been “warm and welcoming” to her since she began guest co-hosting back in March.

“I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host,” she said in the statement, adding, “I want to thank ABC, ABC News and The Disney Company for believing in me and my potential! Let's have some fun!”

Since beginning her guest hosting stint months ago, Raven has brought the youthful energy that ABC producers are looking for and she has also created a lot of controversy on the show that will keep viewers tuning in.

Though many critics and commentators, particularly African-American critics, have slammed Raven for what they are describing as her “ignorant”  and “offensive” statements on the show, we’re sure ABC producers love that Raven can certainly stir things up on “The View” panel and bring more ratings.

Perhaps one of Raven’s most controversial moments on the show thus far was when she tried to defend the news anchor who said First Lady Michelle Obama looked like an APE.

Raven argued that many people look like animals and she didn’t think the statement was offensive or meant to be “racist-like.”

“I look like a bird. So can I be mad if somebody calls me Toucan Sam?” Raven said on “The View” back in March.

No, we’re not kidding. She said that.

Even though Raven hasn’t been a fan favorite in the African American community, we’re gonna try to give her the benefit of the doubt and see what she does as a permanent host.

What are your thoughts on Raven’s new permanent hosting gig? Will you be tuning in?
