Rest in Peace: Prince Dies at 57

It’s the news that just took the music industry by storm. 


Legendary musician Prince has passed away at 57 years old. 



Police are still investigating the exact cause of death, but sources say Prince was battling what seemed to be the flu for several weeks and was later hospitalized in Illinois a week prior to his death. 


A few hours later, he was released from the hospital and performed at what would be his last concert in Atlanta on Thursday, April 14.

Today, he was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park residence.

"It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary iconic performer, Prince, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57," his publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said in a statement. "There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”


Prince was reportedly working on his memoir around the time of his death. There is no word yet on whether the memoir was completed and will be released. 


Naturally, the news of Prince’s death has impacted the world and social media users, public figures, and fans have gone to social media to express their grief.

Prince was more than just a performer. He is an icon whose long list of accolades includeseven Grammy awards and an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
