Taraji P. Henson Lands Role as NASA Mathematician Katherine Johnson

Golden Globe winning actress Taraji P. Henson has just been casted to play Katherine Johnson, a successful black mathematician who worked at NASA during the Civil Rights era. 


Taraji will play Katherine in the film “Hidden Figures” which is based off the soon-to-be published book of the same name. 



“Hidden Figures” tells the untold story of several successfulAfrican American women mathematicians. In addition to Katherine, the book and movie will detail the story of Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughn, Kathryn Peddrew, Sue Wilder, Eunice Smith, and Barbara Holey. 



Though Taraji is the only actress confirmed to star in the upcoming film, sources claim thatViola Davis, Octavia Spencer, and Oprah Winfrey are also in talks with producers to star in the movie. 


Talk about a star-studded cast! 


“Hidden Figures” will be released under FOX 2000 and it is projected to hit theaters on January 13, 2017.
