Understanding The Power Of Affirmation
What if it were possible to have everything you've ever wanted?
What if you could imagine something and it would materialize?
What if I told you that these what if's are already a part of your reality?
When we hold a particular belief about ourself, we begin to act in accordance with this belief. This impacts the way we are perceived and, more importantly, influences how others react to us. Their reaction reinforces our initial belief, reaffirming its truth. In psychology this is referred to as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If you think that your neighbors hold a grudge for that time your dog destroyed their garden, you will almost always be cold towards them rather than cordial. As a result, they will not make an effort to befriend you. Now imagine if you believed that they are good people for not making a big deal about the unfortunate incident? The scenario plays out quite differently.
Your thoughts have a real effect on your physical state and, ultimately, your surroundings.
This is the great power we yield in our lives. More importantly, this is the great responsibility we have toward ourselves.
Our negative thoughts are like poison for our body, triggering stress and other health-related issues. You may think that one bad thought won't do you any harm, but if you're honest with yourself about the way it makes you feel and how it affects the decisions you make, then you'll admit that it is deeply damaging.
We deserve to be completely and utterly fulfilled, and we can achieve this by recognizing our inherent power and accepting this responsibility as a testament to the magnificence of what it means to be human.
When we choose to affirm positive thoughts, we choose to be the greatest version of ourselves. We choose to ignite this greatness in everyone around us. We build the life we seek, and we are prepared to do so against all odds. The power of affirmation is ours, and we owe it to ourselves to embrace this as we strive towards our wonderful purpose.
