America’s Dad is going to trial.
A Pennsylvania judge ruled Tuesday that prosecutors had enough evidence for Bill Cosby to stand trial following a hearing in which his accuser’s description of being drugged, “nauseous” and unable to stop his advances was read into the court record.
The fallen funnyman faces up to 10 years in prison on charges of sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in 2004.
“Mr. Cosby, good luck to you, sir,” Judge Elizabeth McHugh said.
“Thank you,” Cosby replied, appearing unsurprised and cheerful. He hugged one of his lawyers.
A trail date was not set. Cosby is to be arraigned July 20 in Norristown, Penn.
Prior to ruling, McHugh allowed prosecutors to have portions of Constand’s statements to detectives in 2005 read in court.
